The historic and ongoing tech workforce gender gap is replicated in the Generative AI field, with the latest introduction of global giant DeepSeek competing with Chat GPT and other players. Today, only 22% of the AI workforce is women.
The possibility is that as GenAI expands its reach, access and innovation, the roles of women in AI leadership can blossom to equity.

We got a cool tutorial in ChatGPT and Open AI from Marisa Hambleton, a participant in Take The Lead’s Intentioning Leadership Mastermind Series last week. I love learning about new technologies that are being employed to work better, faster, and more creatively.
The big question is, will the new applications of AI and in particular, ChatGPT, enable us to be faster, more creative problem solvers? And more specifically, how will it affect each of us individually and women’s advancement into and up through leadership roles?

That statement has been universally and historically viewed as a compliment to an employee, colleague or leader.
It still is, but now there is an asterisk to the statement. Looking forward with the influx of artificial intelligence and automation in the workplace, it may precede a path to worker replacement. Individuals need to know the value they offer beyond their skills, and that those skills are not automatically generated cheaper and more easily. And they need to surpass the AI gatekeepers and algorithms steeped in gender and racial bias.
