Getting To Equal: Why You Need To Attend This Power Up Conference

Issue 237 — August 7, 2023

I break out in a cold sweat when people say the word “event.”

There are so many moving parts to putting on a valuable and memorable conference — and why would you do one if it weren’t valuable and meaningful? The logistics alone break my head, and there are always dozens of opinions about who to invite to speak and perform, where to have it, what to have for lunch — you name it.

Yet people yearn to get together. No matter how grateful we are for technology that allowed us to work and communicate with friends and family during the pandemic and now to have more workplace flexibility, there is nothing quite like the energy of being in the room with other like-minded people.

Being mindful of our human desire to break bread, learn, connect, and spark ideas together, Take The Lead (Take The Lead Women) does just one conference a year and it’s a powerful one.

The date of the upcoming Power Up Concert and Conference is significant: August 26, Women’s Equality Day.

We chose that date because we still have so many INequalities to overcome, and Take The Lead is committed to accomplishing intersectional gender parity in leadership by 2025. Why? Because that shift alone will solve so many other problems.

The 2023 Power Up Concert and Conference program is designed with participants’ feedback from previous events in mind: to energize, inspire, provide practical skills and tools they can use right away in their careers and lives, and above all to connect with other like-minded, supportive women.

Topics include:

  • Why and How Women Should Build Wealth

  • The Entrepreneur’s Journey

  • Women’s Health Lifecycle

  • The Big Career Pivot

  • Leading Men Talk Amongst Themselves

  • 50 Women Can and Do: The Power of the Cohort

  • Interactive small group roundtables on a plethora of topics curated by the super-inspiring founder of the Black Women’s Collective, Felicia Davis

  • And a fun, celebratory concert featuring BETTY, Marina Arsenijevic, Milck, and more surprise performers.

What a day! You will be so glad you attended, either in person or virtually.

Go right here to the website to marvel at the array of speakers and buy your ticket before they sell out. If you are so moved, also please purchase a ticket for a striking actor or writer, or for a student, to enable them to attend.

You have to get up early to beat the Arizona heat, but @cindiehubiak and I showed up to walk this morning both wearing our #50womencan Change the World shirts.

I had a chance to update Cindie on the concert and conference where we will give our coveted “Wear the Shirt” award, among other awards, and share the big bold vision of launching 25 cohorts of the powerful program that is proven to accelerate women’s #leadership advancement — starting with two cohorts for entrepreneurs this fall.
