The TIME 100 List Has So. Many. Feminists!
Look at all the feminists!! That was our main thought as we scrolled through Time’s annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world this week.
Just a sample of the activism among the women who made the cut:
Emma Watson, taking gender equality mainstream with her #HeForShe campaign
Rula Ghani, the First Lady of Afghanistan, who is speaking out for women’s rights in that country
Amy Schumer, whose comedy has been called “celebrity feminism in action”
Susan Wojcicki, who has written op-eds in favor of paid maternity leave
And that’s without mentioning heavyweights like Hillary Clinton, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Diane von Furstenberg, and Malala Yousafzai. The trend is clear: supporting women isn’t just something that’s nice to do once you have power. It’s something that can get you power in the first place, or increase the power you already have. The world is changing. Feminism is working. We’re doing a happy dance over here. (And if you want to get in on some of that power in your own life, Gloria Feldt’s Power Tools course is a great way to start.)
