There are nearly 77 million dogs in the United States, and I want them all to live their best lives.
It’s why I started my sustainable pet food and treat company, Scout & Zoe’s. It’s my answer to the big mega-corps who put profit before health, and money before sustainability. Did you know that the three biggest pet food companies routinely buy up smaller companies? This makes it harder to know where food is being made, who is making them, and what is in them.
My journey started with my dog, Zoe. She was allergic to a number of common items found in dog food and treats. My search for products that wouldn’t irritate Zoe’s skin or tummy led me to discovering that most popular products had harmful, unhealthy ingredients.
Scout & Zoe’s products uses limited ingredients to ensure purity and quality. The Chicken Jerky? It’s just chicken. No additives, chemicals, or unnecessary elements. All ingredients are USA sourced, human-grade, and so delicious I eat them myself (except the Carp Eyeballs. It’s a texture thing).
By using novel proteins like Black Soldier Fly Larvae or the invasive Asian Carp, we’re solving two problems - making healthy options available for dogs and using sustainable sources that help balance our ecosystems.
My mantra is, “Do good for the pet, the environment, and the community.” Healthy pet food, sustainable practices, and supporting the community through programs providing people with prison records gainful employment or having products packaged and labeled by intellectually disabled adults.
I started this company because I love dogs and I want them to be as healthy as possible. Our pets bring us such joy and love, and I want to give back in all the ways I can.
