The main goal in writing about my life and my life’s experiences is to inspire and encourage others, especially those from immigrant and refugee families. Although our experiences are varied, we learn to deal with a number of unexpected challenges.

We draw from our inner strength with an understanding that education will help unlock many doors, as we work hard and persevere.

Let us strive forward with an optimistic view and a ‘can do’ attitude. Our paths may vary, but we continue on our journey with an open heart and a readiness to embrace the opportunities that present themselves, undeterred by obstacles and disappointments.

When you surround yourself with positive-thinking people, great things will happen. An expression of gratitude goes a long way. Remember that family and friends are the flowers in the garden of your life.

I am truly grateful for my family and friends who continue to encourage me on my life’s journey. My treasure chest is overflowing with friends who inspire, encourage and support me.

Paula Cullison is the President and Founder of Arizona Women's Partnership. The daughter of immigrants from Italy, her international travel photography and travel articles have been well received. She believes that international travel promotes cultural understanding and is the way to world peace.
