The Power Of Being In Position
By Georgia Dawkins
Two years after walking away from my dream job, I am still wondering if I made the right choice. The truth is God told me to leave the talk show that I helped create and develop. The stark revelation came after a series of panic attacks that left me ashamed and embarrassed.
Now one book, one podcast, and four television shows later, I am now on a mission to make sure everybody knows the power of being in position.
A few months after my book was released, I attended the National Association of Black Journalists convention in Detroit. It was at that conference when a student member came to me with tears in her eyes. She said my book saved her life.
She explained that she had been contemplating taking her own life when she came across a video on LinkedIn of me talking about my own struggles.
Little did she know but she encouraged me that day. Seven months after my grand exit, I was still struggling mentally and emotionally. When I published that video, I had no idea it would help a college student who I never knew. Her story served as a reminder that sharing our stories brings us closer together.
My journey is about purpose. I wrote “Everybody Knows: The Power of Being in Position” so anyone who reads it can see the vulnerability of my walk. I also want them to see that God can use anyone. Someone somewhere is waiting on you to get into position. They are depending on you to get into position so that they can make their next best move.
