Dr. Avis Jones-DeWeever is the President of Incite Unlimited, a Washington, DC-based boutique consulting firm and the Host of the new nationally syndicated radio show, Focus Point with Avis Jones-DeWeever. A Washington insider, Dr. Jones-DeWeever has been featured on CNN, C-SPAN, PBS, BET, TV-ONE, CBC, Al Jazeera America, the Washington Post, the National Journal, the Grio, the Huffington Post, and Clutch Magazine. Dr. Jones-DeWeever has also been recognized by BET as one of the Most Influential Women in Washington, DC. Most recently, Dr. Jones-DeWeever served as the Executive Director of the National Council of Negro Women, where she led a new organizational push towards policy advocacy and impact. Prior to her position at NCNW, Dr. Jones-DeWeever held positions in a variety of highly esteemed organizations and governmental institutions including the Governor’s Office of Virginia, the Maryland State House of Representatives, the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies and the Institute for Women’s Policy Research. An accomplished scholar, writer, and public speaker, Dr. Jones-DeWeever is an authority on race, gender and the economy as well as women’s empowerment and leadership development. She is the author of numerous publications focused on issues of particular importance to women and the African American community.
