Are You the One Who Sent The $2000 Check?
Issue 211 — November 21, 2022
If you sent that check — it came last week without information as to the donor — to Take The Lead, thank you! This post will be published to coincide with Giving Tuesday so whoever you are, your timing could not be more perfect.
I just posted the message below on my personal fundraising page for Giving Tuesday:
I co-founded and am devoting this phase of my life to Take The Lead (www.taketheleadwomen.com) because its training, coaching, role models, and thought leadership have been proven to provide women with the very tools they need to embrace their power and elevate their ideas about what they can achieve in their careers and personal lives.
And it actually works! Evaluations have found that these tools and the mindset of confidence and intentionality they instill result in promotions, raises, and other measures of success whereas so many women’s leadership programs have scarcely moved the dial.
It’s not about empowering women — we have the power if we can see it and have the courage and tools to use it. And it’s not about telling women to change — the data is clear that there is nothing wrong with us. In fact, adding women to any workplace improves the bottom line. Gender parity is for everyone’s good — men, women, families, and organizations.
Let’s face it: Equity is a social justice issue and lack of it is an economic problem; intersectional gender parity in leadership will solve those injustices. That’s what Take The Lead does.
In 2022, women still only make .83 cents on the dollar on average compared to men. For Black and Hispanic women, that number is much lower. This leads to financial stresses throughout lifetimes — did you know women over 65 are twice as likely as men to live in poverty, and that closing the gender pay gap would close the $4.7 Trillion social security savings gap?
Take The Lead prepares, develops, inspires and propels all women of all diversities and intersectionalities to take their fair and equal share of leadership positions by 2025. Women like Antonia, who came into the 50 Women Can Change the World in Journalism Program feeling skeptical and left with clarity about her next moves and a set of leadership tools to get there. We have delivered those powerful cohort-based programs to various sectors, such as media and entertainment, nonprofits, healthcare, and law. Next year, with your help, we will tackle the sectors that have been especially hard for women to crack, such as technology and finance.
Join me (click here) in supporting Take The Lead’s mission and helping the organization provide resources, programs and events that accelerate women’s power, pay, and leadership positions by donating now. We must raise $100,000 by year’s end, and are counting on Giving Tuesday to give us a jump start.
**Any amount helps. Even $5. You can make a one-time gift, make a recurring monthly sustainer gift, and/or to have the greatest impact, join me in reaching out to others and inviting them to join the movement along with you.**
Remember, you can make a donation, start your own fundraiser, or both. It’s really easy. Thank you so much for your support and please send this page to everyone you know who supports advancing women to parity in leadership.

Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today.
Didn’t your mother repeat this advice from Ben Franklin to you when you were procrastinating? Mine certainly did. So don’t wait and don’t overthink. If you share my deepest belief in the simple justice for all women to have their fair and equal share of leadership in every sector, please demonstrate that by making your gift and joining the movement now.
P.S. If you are the one who sent that anonymous $2000 check, thank you again. But make no mistake — your gift of $5, $10, $25, $100, whatever amount is meaningful to you does a world of good and so much good for the world. Here’s the link to my personal fundraising page again.
P.P.S. Thank you!
