Wikipedia edit-a-thon < 50 Women Can Change the World in Journalism

  • Luminary 1204 Broadway New York, NY, 10001 United States (map)

The cohort of Take The Lead’s 50 Women Can Change the World in Journalism developed a plan to advance women’s leadership throughout the journalism sector. In November, they will launch their plan Women Do News to grow the number of women journalists on Wikipedia.

From November 2 to 16, they will conduct a virtual edit-a-thon. This will culminate in an in-person edit-a-thon at Luminary, a collaboration hub for women in New York City.

This project invites everyone to add women journalists to Wikipedia. Should you wish to support it, you can join the event, register at the sign-up portal, share the flyer.

Wikipedia has a significant gender imbalance, with countless notable women journalists absent from its index. The cohort is utilizing their collective power to increase awareness of the accomplishments of women in journalism.

Take The Lead, with incredible support from the Ford Foundation Center for Social Justice, the Democracy Fund, and Luminary, is reconvening the cohort to further this sector-changing work.
